E-news: Intensive glycaemic control has no impact on the risk of heart failure with T2DM

Evidence from a 37,229 patient meta-analysis. More intensive glycaemic control in patients with T2DM does not reduce the occurrence of heart failure events.

Furthermore, intensive glycemic control with thiazolidinediones increased the risk of heart failure. These findings question a direct mechanistic link between hyperglycemia and heart failure.
